On and off, It's been peddling in the social medias for quite a long time now. Rumors about McDonald's restaurants utilizing worms as filler within their 100% hamburger cheeseburgers. Recently, true reports of some retail networks being distributed food products tainted with horse meat because of issues with supplies have been the premise for wild and yet somehow apparently trustworthy claims that an Oklahoma City McDonald's outlet was caught with a stallion meat and human meat in their coolers.

Holy Saturday: In Silence We Await

Holy Saturday (from Latin Sabbatum Sanctum) is sacred as the day that the Lord is asleep in silence. It commemorates the day that Jesus Christ's body lay in the tomb.

Also known as the Great Sabbath, Black Saturday, Easter Eve, Joyous Saturday, Saturday of Holy Week or the Saturday of Light, this should be the most calm and quiet day of the whole Church year, a day broken by no liturgical function. When all seems dark and grim and the only thing left to do is wait as Christ lies in the grave, the Church sits near and mourns.

Holy Saturday is not only a day of loss, but also a day of quiet hope. "For you will not leave my soul among the dead, nor let your beloved know decay" (Psalm 15).

As we meditate at the Lord's tomb today, let us see in that tomb all the children who have been killed by abortion. They are there. They share the suffering of death, which God Himself chose to share in order to destroy.

Good Friday: A Day of Reflection, Penance and Prayers

Good Friday is observed by many Christians around the world on the Friday before Easter Sunday. It commemorates Jesus Christ’s Passion, crucifixion and his death at Calvary.

As part of the Paschal Triduum, Good Friday is a religious holiday observed during Holy Week and may correspond with the Jewish observance of Passover. It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Black Friday, Easter Friday or the Friday in Easter week.

Today, is a special day for Reflection, Penance and Prayers. To remember the death of Jesus on the cross and challenge the mystery of the cross. A day of fasting and abstinence to shape our awareness and openness. A day to stand at the foot of the cross as a forgiven sinner. 

His sufferings and death will always be a part of our  lives no matter what religion or spirituality we affiliate ourselves with. We can be a true disciples of Christ by embracing our hearts and deal with the cross that we personally carry.

Today's Daily Reflection: 
For our sake our Redeemer suffered death and was buried, and rose again.  With heartfelt love let us adore him, and pray: Lord, have mercy on us. 

Christ our teacher, for our sake you were obedient even to accepting death...
     - Teach us to obey the Father's will in all things. 

Christ our life, by your death on the cross you destroyed the power of evil and death... 
     - May we die with you, to rise with you in glory. 

Christ our King, you became an outcast among us, a worm and no man... 
     - Teach us the humility by which you saved the world. 

Christ our salvation, you gave yourself up to death out of love for us... 
     - Help us to show your love to one another.

Christ our Savior, on the cross you embraced all time with your outstretched arms... 
    - Unite God's scattered children in your kingdom of salvation. 

Good Friday Prayer:
Almighty God, kindle, we pray, in every heart the true love of
peace, and guide with your wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of the earth; that in tranquility your dominion may increase, until the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let us pray for all who suffer and are afflicted in body or in mind;
    For the hungry and the homeless, the destitute 
        and the oppressed 
    For the sick, the wounded, and the crippled 
    For those in loneliness, fear, and anguish 
    For those who face temptation, doubt, and despair 
    For the sorrowful and bereaved 
    For prisoners and captives, and those in mortal danger

That God in his mercy will comfort and relieve them, and
grant them the knowledge of his love, and stir up in us the
will and patience to minister to their needs.

Prison Break Wentworth Miller Comes Out As Gay

As the anti-gay laws being passed in some countries, more and more celebrities are making  a statement and one hunk celebrity just made a one hell of a statement today. 

41-year old actor and Prison Break star Wentworth Miller, came 'Out' as gay to the public by declining an invitation from the director St. Petersburg International Film Festival to attend the event as a guest of honor.


He wrote in his letter:

Dear Ms. Averbakh: 

Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. 

However, as a gay man, I must decline. 

I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.

Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I’ll be free to make a different choice.

It was so good move for Wentworth to take the invitation to the film festival as an opportunity to stand up for his fellow gays in Russia. His coming out is another “powerful” statement of support to the LGTB community who are being hated and  condemned in Russia in connection with its anti-LGBT law.

Recently implemented, the anti-LGBT law has stirred controversies. The new law has banned "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations around minors," including the public discussion of gay rights and relationships anywhere children might hear it. The law banned the promotion of gay, lesbian or bisexual lifestyles and making foreign tourists who are members of the LGBT community subject to arrest. 

The law has been condemned by Russian and international human rights groups as highly discriminatory and have been criticized throughout Hollywood.
